Meet Our Veterinarians!

Dr. Chris Shivers
Co-Owner and Practicing Veterinarian
Member of the At Home Animal Clinic Staff since June 2, 2008
Dr. Chris Shivers, a Stillwater area native, graduated from Stillwater Area High School in 2000. She moved back to Washington County after completing degrees at St. Olaf College in 2004, and Iowa State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008.
Dr. Shivers joined the At Home Animal Clinic staff shortly after graduation, and has enjoyed building long-term relationships with her clients and their pets. In January 2016, Dr. Shivers and Dr. Phillips jointly purchased At Home Animal Clinic from Dr. Art Rutscher.
Dr. Shivers lives with her husband, son, and two cats. In her spare time, she enjoys playing in the handbell choir and singing in the chancel choir at church, spending time outside, playing with her son, reading, and sewing. It is her love of sewing that has led her to an interest in soft tissue surgery.
Dr. Kate Pederson
Associate Veterinarian
Member of the At Home Animal Clinic Staff since August 13, 2018
Dr. Kate Pederson completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin - River Falls. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science with an Equine emphasis. Despite the equine emphasis, horses have always been a hobby and small animals (cats and dogs) her passion. Dr. Pederson then proceeded on to veterinary school at the University of Minnesota, completing her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2014.
After previously practicing in La Crosse, WI, Dr. Pederson is excited to be part of another wonderful river town here in Stillwater at At Home Animal Clinic. She really enjoys being a general practice veterinarian and being available to help clients and patients from puppyhood to old age. The chance to develop lasting relationships and supporting the human animal bond is invaluable. Her professional interests include preventative care, behavior, internal medicine cases, and dermatology.
Dr. Pederson grew up in Rochester, MN and still has family there. She currently lives with her dog, Glia. Together they enjoy hiking and exploring the outdoors. Recently they have started backpacking in the many wonderful national and state forests and parks. Dr. Pederson also is passionate about animal rescue work and frequently fosters kittens and cats.
Dr. Abby Coodin
Associate Veterinarian
Member of the At Home Animal Clinic Staff since 2022
Dr. Abby Coodin is originally from Lansing, Michigan and moved to Minnesota in 2001 to complete her bachelor’s degree at the University of Minnesota. She then went on to complete an Associate degree in Veterinary Technology and finally a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at the University of Minnesota in 2010.
Since moving to Minnesota Dr. Abby has worked her way up through veterinary clinics around the twin cities starting as a veterinary assistant, technician and finally as a veterinarian. Since graduating from vet school, she has worked as an adjunct professor in Veterinary Technology, owned a practice in Wisconsin, and transitioned to being an associate in the last few years.
When it comes to veterinary medicine Dr. Abby has a strong interest in dentistry, behavior, ophthalmology, and preventive medical care. She also loves to be able to problem solve and create meaningful relationships with her patients and their owners.
Outside of veterinary medicine Dr. Abby has strong interests in crafting (especially with her Cricut), horseback riding with her horse Leo, reading, hockey (Go Wild and Red Wings!) and volunteering her time. She currently is a Girl Scout troop leader, a PTO board member at Woodbury Middle School and manages her daughter’s hockey teams. Dr. Abby currently resides in Woodbury with her husband Steve and their two daughters Isabella and Morgan. In addition to her horse Leo they also have two dogs named Blizzy and Emma. Dr. Abby is very excited to be a member of the At Home Animal family and looks forward to getting to know the clients and patients for years to come.
Dr. Cherie Pepin
Associate Veterinarian
Member of the At Home Animal Clinic Staff since 2022
Dr. Cherie Pepin's childhood dream was to become a veterinarian, but she took the long and winding road getting there. She attended the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN, graduating with degrees in Marketing/Management and French. She spent many, exciting years working as a sales and marketing representative for an international music company. But in 2009, when her beloved dog Schaeffer required a knee surgery and post-surgical rehabilitation, her dreams of veterinary medicine were awakened. She quit the business world and started pursuing vet medicine. She graduated with Honors from Ross University of Veterinary Medicine in 2014 and has been working as veterinarian, starting in her home state of Minnesota, then in Port Angeles, WA, followed by VCA North Portland in Oregon, and now back home in Minnesota!
She is passionate about all things feline (especially the calico ones!), and enjoys geriatric care and internal medicine. She is a true believer in preventative medicine and the benefits of pain management. She shares her home with 2 ridiculous dogs, 2 perfect cats and one husband.
Dr. Amy Phillips
Co-Owner, Office Manager, and Relief Veterinarian
Member of the At Home Animal Clinic Staff since January 1, 2016
Dr. Amy Phillips graduated from Stillwater Area High School in 2000. After completing her pre-vet coursework at St. Olaf College, she graduated from the University of Minnesota’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. Dr. Phillips first joined the At Home Animal Clinic staff in 2006, leaving in 2008, when she purchased Lake Animal Hospital in White Bear Lake, which she also continues to own and manage. She is happy to be back with At Home Animal Clinic in this new capacity!
Dr. Phillips always had a love of animals. She grew up on a historic farmstead in Stillwater where she resides today. There, she raises Baby Doll Sheep and Appaloosa Sport Horses. Dr. Phillips shares her home with many pets including an adoring Welsh Corgi named Lollie, a demanding orange tabby called Brosnan, and an ill-tempered African Bullfrog known fondly as Vicious.
